Introduction

As an Admin managing multiple projects or a project member that has access to multiple projects in ManagementStudio, it might be useful to have a shortcut on the desktops which launches logs you into the specified project. This guide shows how to configure the shortcut to gain access to 2 separate projects, a MigrationStudio & a Project Massive Migration project.

 

Step 1 – Identify the Project Ids of the required projects


  • Login to ManagementStudio.
  • Click on the Switch project icon (1) and select the required project (2).

  • Click on Administration->Project Settings (1).
  • Click Project Settings tab.
  • Make a note of the Project Id number (2).
  • Make a note of the ManagementStudio Url (3).
  • Repeat these steps for the other required project.

Step 2 – Configure Desktop Shortcut


  • Switch to the ManagementStudio shortcut on the desktop.
  • Right click on the shortcut and select Properties.
  • In the Target field, add in “-ServerUrl Http://MyServer.com:5000 -ProjectId 3
  • The entry should look like this:

%LocalAppData%\ManagementStudio\ManagementStudio.exe -ServerUrl Http://MyServer.com:5000 -ProjectId 3

%LocalAppData%\ManagementStudio\ManagementStudio.exe -ServerUrl Http://Myserver.com:5000 -ProjectId 2

  • Click Apply and OK.
  • Clicking on the icon will launch ManagementStudio and log into the corresponding project.
